![]() ![]() So I'm left wandering, in the 50+ years of the two versions being out, has nobody translated the first one? In Russian, these two versions are simply called "Сказка о Тройке 1" and "Сказка о Тройке 2" (which I guess is somewhat misleading, as it almost implies one is a sequel to the other).Īll the translations I've been able to find - English, Polish, Bulgarian - have been of "Сказка о Тройке 2" (my Russian is not that good, but I understand enough to be able to tell which edition is which). The differences were apparently caused by Angara editors asking for the book to be trimmed down to fit their format. ![]() ![]() The issue is that "Tale of The Troika" is in a bit of a weird position, since two versions of the book exist - one which was published in the magazine Smena and one in the magazine Angara. Bouis in 1977, bundled together with "Roadside Picnic" in a single book. Yes, I know "Tale of The Troika" has been translated into English by Antonina W. ![]()
